Singaporean youths are soft, spoilt and sad
Do you agree with the statement? It seems youth are no longer hungry for success as they have too much of the good things in life. If you agree, why, are there examples and can anything be done to redress the issue? If you don't agree, why, do you have examples and do you see a future for Singaporean youth?
School is a waste of time?
The Yip family was recently featured in the newspapers for having "superkids" - 2 teens at age 14 and 12 already doing O and A levels, and Anthony at 5 years old reading encyclopaedia. Their father, Dr Yip, claims that "school is a waste of time", and pulled them out of school to "home school" them, that is, arrange for them to be educated at home. Do you think his methods are sound? And is it true that school is a waste of time? What is the difference between education and schooling?
JC vs Poly education
What is it that sets JC students apart from Poly students? What do you think are the pros and cons of each? Is it true that JC students are more academically inclined but Poly kids are more street smart? Is it confirmed that Poly kids will never catch up with JC kids?
Discrimination in Singapore?
Is there discrimination practised in SIngapore? Either openly or among groups that you meet in school etc? What type of discrimination is most common? Age, sex, race, religion etc? What in the first place is discrimination? Can you spot it anywhere else in the rest of the world?
